Universal Design
In the mid-1980's, Architect Ron Mace coined the term Universal Design to describe the design of products and environments to be useable by all people, to the greatest extent possible, without the need for adaptation or specialized design. As more and more people learn about the long-term benefits, more products are being introduced which embody the principles of Universal Design:
  • Equitable Use
  • Flexibility in Use
  • Simple & Intuitive in Use
  • Tolerance for Error
  • Low Physical Effort
  • Size and Space for Approach & Use
Aging-in-Place
Residential design for Aging in Place strives to not only address the physical changes that are a natural part of the aging process, but to also understand and respond to the mental and emotional aspects.  As CAPS (Certified Aging-in-Place Specialist) professionals we are able address the fear of being alone, helplessness, and increased dependency people tend to experience as they get older.  We strive to design home environments which not only respond to your current lifestyle, but which are adaptable for your future needs, allowing you to live safely and comfortably in your home as long as possible.
